The online platform provided by the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) for the acquisition of Category-1 items under the Against Firm Demand (AFD) scheme is nearing its one-year anniversary on January 08, 2022. This platform, accessible at www.afd.csdindia.gov.in, facilitates the purchase of various AFD-1 items, including cars, motorcycles, scooters, televisions, refrigerators, and more. It serves as a convenient outlet for CSD beneficiaries, which encompasses active and retired Armed Forces personnel, war widows, and civilian defense employees. CSD AFD Online Portal Stage-wise Details
1st Step: All CSD Grocery Card (Smart Card) holders are eligible to register on this official portal. Filling out the application form for Registration is very simple. But every CSD AFD customer should have proper document details. Please collect all the information before filling out the application. Smart Card number, Chip Number, Mobile Number, and Service Details. Click the direct link and follow the steps – https://afd.csdindia.gov.in/register/
2nd Step: CSD AFD Online Portal Approval: After successful registration in the CSD AFD online portal, the CSD AFD team will send the approval message within two weeks according to the number of verification pending! You may get an approval message within a week or it will take 15 days to get approval. CSD AFD team will check all the application details manually. After approval, you may log in to the portal and view all the AFD -I items available on the portal.
3rd Step: CSD AFD Online Portal Login: All AFD CSD Customers should enter the user name and password on the login page every time. And the portal will send OTP every time to the registered mobile phone. After entering the correct PIN number, the portal will show the online shopping page – https://afd.csdindia.gov.in/login/
4th Step: CSD AFD Online Price List: All AFD CSD Customers can log in at any time on the portal with OTP (One Time Password) verification. Customers can view all AFD-1 available items on this portal without any restrictions. You can view the latest prices of cars, bikes, scooters, and White Goods and compare them to the market price instantly!
5th Step: CSD AFD Online Portal Payment: This is an important step! Once you decide on the item to purchase from the portal, you have to contact your nearest authorized CSD dealer for an estimation and availability certificate of the selected product. Also, choose the URC Canteen from the list to get the LS Order. All CSD AFD items are costly and the value of the items is a huge amount! So, be very careful before entering the payment section.
6th Step – CSD AFD Online Portal LS Order: After successful payment, the customer will get a message on the transaction. Depending upon the situation, the CSD AFD team will send the LS Order (Local Supply Order) to the selected URC canteen. 7th Step – CSD AFD Online Portal Delivery: Go to the authorized CSD dealer and issue one of the copies of the LS Order. And ask for delivery of the item to your required address.

How to Register in CSD AFD Online Portal
The CSD (Canteen Stores Department) has finally launched a new web portal for Armed Forces Personnel and Ex-Servicemen to buy AFD items online. In order to simplify the procedure of purchasing AFD items, the site has been well designed and launched as the trail now!
All CSD customers have to register on this portal mandatory.
Step 1: Open the CSD AFD Online website with the direct link given below: afd.csdindia.gov.in
Step 2: Click on the “SHOP NOW” button shown on the Login web page.
Step 3: Click on “Not a member yet? Register Now”. This option enables
new users to register on the website. Before you start registration, make sure to keep the following things with you:
1. Grocery, Canteen card
2. Pan card
3. Mobile number for OTP verification

Step 4: Illustrate the registration form. Name, Card ID, and Chip number should be exactly the way they are printed on the Grocery card or Canteen card. The mobile number will be verified through OTP. After entering the number Click “Send OTP”.
If a new user with a username, grocery card, or PAN number already exists, an error screen will be displayed. No user can have the same details like Username, e-mail, etc. If the error persists user may contact the help desk.
If the “Date of enrolment or commissioning” is less than 5 years old then users will not be entitled to buy any products. Once the form is filled, press “Submit”. If the form is correctly filled out. The user will get the notification as shown in the image. The user will not be able to log in right away. Post submission admin will verify the details and then grant access. The user will receive the mail as shown in the below image upon form submission
Once the registration is approved, the user will receive a mail like shown in the below image.
Step 5: After Login, users will be prompted to enter OTP sent on their phones.
CSD AFD Online Portal Registration Process
First, you just type in Google Search as CSD AFD Login Page. Click the official portal link of https://afd.csdindia.gov.in/ and click the ‘Shop Now‘ button. You will be redirected to the Login page and click ‘Not a member yet? Register Now link.
Follow the instructions highlighted at the top of the Registration Page: Canteen cardholders are requested not to use service number/service particulars like rank etc while filling up the Sign-Up request and check-out forms. Your login/AFD Demand will be rejected/canceled if service particulars are used.
- Name as printed on the front face of grocery canteen card: (Only Alphabets allowed)
- Card ID printed on the front face of the grocery card: (19 digit Alphanumeric) (Alphanumeric no. starting with GA/GB/GC/GE like grocery card id GA01052027551000J00. Third last is the alphabet, not a number)
- Chip number printed on the back of canteen card or printed on the grocery bill: (16 digits Numeric) (16 Digit No. (5312120004689336). Given on reverse of grocery card at the bottom right. Also given on grocery bill)
- Mobile number: Send OTP
- Employment status: Select (Servicemen, ESM, Serving Defence Civilians, and On Deputation)
- Organization: Select (Army, Air Force, Navy, Assam Rifles, Coast Guard, GREF, Other Uniformed Organisations, and Defence Civilians)

CSD AFD Car Purchase Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria for Car Purchase by Armed Forces Personnel through CSD AFD:
– The car purchase facility is extended to both serving and retired Armed Forces Personnel, as well as widows.
– Applicable Pay Matrix Levels: 3A to 6
– The cost of the car should not exceed Rs. 6 Lakhs, excluding taxes.
– Purchase Conditions: The first car can be purchased while in service, while the second car can be purchased after retirement. The first car can only be purchased after completing a minimum of five years of service. There should be a gap of at least eight years between the purchase of the two cars.
– Applicable Pay Matrix Levels: 7 to 9
This scheme applies to individuals within the Pay Matrix Level of 7 to 9, with a car cost of Rs.7 Lakhs (excluding taxes). The conditions for car purchase are as follows: The first car can be purchased as Other Rank personnel, the second car can be purchased upon promotion to Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), and the third car can be purchased after retirement. Additionally, the first car can only be purchased after a minimum of five years of service, and there must be an eight-year gap between the purchases of two cars.
– Applicable Pay Matrix Levels: 10 to 18
This privilege is extended to individuals who are either currently serving or retired Armed Forces Personnel, as well as widows. The eligibility criterion is based on the Pay Matrix Level, specifically from levels 10 to 18. The cost of the car should amount to Rs. 15 Lakhs, excluding any applicable taxes. It is important to note that this purchase can only be made once every eight years, as per the given periodicity conditions.
Eligibility for car purchase in CSD AFD Portal for Ordnance Officers:
Applicable to civilian officers serving in the Defence sector (with payment sourced from Defense Estimates).
Applicable pay matrix level: 11 to 18.
Car cost limit: Rs.15 Lakhs, excluding taxes.
