The Canteen Stores Department (CSD) is a government-run institution that supplies goods and services to members of India’s Armed Forces. The CSD has created the CSD AFD web portal, an online platform for Armed Forces personnel to purchase CSD goods and services. This portal has simplified access to the CSD’s offerings for Armed Forces personnel, as well as the process of purchasing goods and services from the CSD. What is the procedure for making a purchase using the CSD AFD portal?
- Identify the things that will be purchased, their costs, and the dealer’s details.
- Obtain a certificate of availability from the merchant.
- Only use NEFT or RTGS to transfer the item’s cost to the CSD depot’s primary account.
- Complete the indent form and attach all supporting documentation listed in the instructions, the dealer’s availability certificate, and the original bank payment counterfoil.
- Only deliver the completed indent form to the designated URC.
- The indent forms and all related paperwork will be delivered by URC to the appropriate depot. A purchase order will be created after the depot reviews the paperwork, and confirms the payment receipt (PO).
What are AFD-I Items in the CSD AFD online portal?
AFD-I items fall into two categories: two-wheelers/white goods and four-wheelers with a retail value greater than Rs. 8000. Please make sure you are qualified before making any AFD-I purchases. While there are separate rules for four-wheelers, beneficiaries can purchase two-wheelers and white goods every four years. The purchase of any AFD-I items is prohibited for retired defense civilians.
What is the eligibility for purchase in CSD AFD Canteen?
The CSD AFD web portal is accessible to all members of the armed forces, however, there are some limitations. A car with an engine capacity of up to 2500 CC and a price that does not exceed 12 Lakhs before GST may be purchased once every eight years by employees in the pay matrix levels 10 through 18 of the company. Those in the pay matrix level 3A-9 are qualified to purchase a vehicle both while they are employed and after retirement. A car’s engine should not be larger than 1400cc, and its price shouldn’t be higher than 12 lakhs (before GST is applied). Serving Defence Civilian Officers in pay matrix levels 11 through 18 are permitted to buy a car once every eight years with a maximum 2500cc engine size, however, the automobile’s price cannot be more than Rs. 12 lakhs (before GST is applied).
