For Armed Forces Pensioners and Family Pensioners under One Rank One Pension, the Union Cabinet, presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has authorized a pension modification that will take effect on July 1, 2019. (OROP). The minimum and maximum pensions of retired members of the Defense Forces in 2018 with the same rank and years of service would be averaged out to recalculate the pensions of previous retirees.
With the exception of those who prematurely (PMR) retired as of July 1, 2014, this amendment applies to former members of the armed forces up until June 30, 2019. The Armed Forces’ family pensions and more than 25.13 million retirees would gain (including around 4.52 lakh new beneficiaries). Pensions for people with higher-than-average incomes will be safeguarded. Older people with disabilities and family pensioners like war widows are also qualified for the payment.
Arrears shall be paid in four semi-annual payments. All family pensioners, including those who receive the Special, Liberalized Family Pension and Gallantry Award recipients, will receive a single lump sum payment.
At a rate of 31% Dearness Relief, the annual cost to implement the modification is around Rs 8,450 crore (DR). The arrears from July 1 through December 31, 2021, have been anticipated to be more than Rs 19,316 crore based on DR at 17% from July 1 through June 30, 2021, and 31% from July 1 through December 31, 2021. The arrears between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2022 are roughly Rs 23,638 crore, according to the applicable dearness relief. In addition to the ongoing OROP expenses, this cost.

The first OROP pension modification tables were made available to all ranks of Defense pensioners on February 4, 2016, by the PCDA and CGDA offices. The OROP Circular No. 555 was accompanied by a total of 101 OROP amended pension tables.
